Chiang Mai feels like a calm, clever town to work from. Old temples and quiet alleys sit near bright cafes. The vibe is friendly and slow. Winters are cool. The hot months get sweaty and the rainy season pours. Cost of living is low to moderate. You can find cheap food stalls and good apartments without breaking the bank. Internet is solid. Most cafes and co working spaces have fast Wi Fi and backup power. Things to do are easy to love. Night markets, short mountain hikes, cooking classes and art spaces fill your weekends. I once planned a half day of work and ended up on a surprise rooftop beer with people I met at a meetup. There is a real nomad community. Meetups, language exchanges and skill swaps happen often. For some this will be amazing. Arguably not the best if you need beaches. But if you want a chill base with lots to do, Chiang Mai is hard to beat.
