Details
The Bäckerei in Innsbruck serves as a vibrant cultural center and co-working space, situated in a former bakery, fostering creativity and community engagement. Its mission revolves around using participatory art and culture to break down barriers, encouraging collaboration among around 13 organizations and approximately 50 co-workers who contribute to over 600 events annually. This dynamic environment is designed to empower social and cultural initiatives, particularly through the Project for Positive Energy Districts (CO-PED), which promotes decentralized, cooperative energy communities.
As of February 2025, the Bäckerei will introduce new working spaces tailored for artists, cultural practitioners, and creative individuals. These areas will offer flexible, affordable workplaces that support innovation and artistic development. The center not only provides meeting rooms and event spaces for cultural programming but also emphasizes community involvement. Whether through hosting events, participating on stage, or joining collective initiatives, individuals are encouraged to take an active role in shaping the cultural landscape of the Bäckerei.
In addition to its function as a cultural hub, the Bäckerei boasts a café that transforms into a performance venue during event evenings, offering a relaxed atmosphere for creative expression. Regular operating hours facilitate casual visits, while their event programming caters to a diverse audience, providing a platform for various artistic endeavors. The Bäckerei's commitment to fostering a creative community aligns with its broader goal of promoting cultural transformation and sustainability within Innsbruck.
