Zanzibar feels like a slow, colorful place that still gets work done. Stone Town smells of spices and grilled fish. Beaches nearby are wide and raw. The sun is strong. It can be humid, but the sea breeze helps.
Most travellers enjoy the small nomad scene here. There are a few cozy coworking spots and lots of cafés with Wi Fi. For some, the internet will be amazing. For others, it can be patchy and a local SIM is a good backup. Cost of living is low to moderate. Local food and guesthouses are cheap. Fancy beachfront places cost more.
Things to do between work sessions are endless. Dive, kite surf, take a spice tour, or wander market lanes. I read online about sunset volleyball at Nungwi. I also saw photos of nomads typing on a beach table while kids kicked a ball nearby. Community is friendly and small. Arguably not the best if you need perfect fast tech, but great if you want sun, culture, and a relaxed work pace.
