Taipei feels alive. Big city energy but easy to live in. Streets glow at night. Food stalls, shrines, tiny tea shops. Most travellers enjoy the late night eats and the quick MRT rides to hikes. The vibe is friendly and curious. People smile. The weather is mild in winter and hot and humid in summer. For some, that humidity will be tough.
Cost of living is lower than Western cities. You can find cheap eats and decent flats without emptying your savings. Internet is fast and reliable. Cafes have steady wifi and power outlets. Plenty of coworking spaces and loud digital nomad meetups to join.
There is always stuff to do. I read about a weekend beach volleyball scene at Fulong. I also heard people grabbing sunrise hikes on Yangmingshan. Community is real. Facebook groups and meetups bring people together. Arguably not the best for quiet island vibes. But if you like city life with easy nature trips, Taipei will likely surprise you.
