Costs are higher in Amsterdam and Utrecht. Smaller cities like Groningen or Haarlem feel cheaper and just as lively. There are great day trips. Museums, markets, beach volleyball at Scheveningen at sunset, and long cycling routes. Community is strong. Expats and startups mingle at weekly meet-ups. Arguably not the best if you crave endless sun. But if you like safe cities, quick trains, good coffee, and reliable Wi Fi, the Netherlands is a smart, fun base to work from.
