I fell for Montenegro fast. Small towns hug the blue Adriatic. Old stone streets in Kotor feel like a movie set. The vibe is relaxed in winter and loud in summer. Hot, sunny summers. Winters are mild by the coast and colder in the mountains. Culture mixes Mediterranean food, Slavic songs, and old sea tales.
For digital nomads it mostly works. Living here is cheaper than Western Europe. Not dirt cheap but you can eat well and still save. Internet is good in towns and at coworking spots in Podgorica, Tivat and Budva. Up in remote villages it can be slower. Things to do are endless. Hike in Durmitor one day. Sail the Bay of Kotor the next. Most travellers enjoy beach volleyball at Jaz or Budva at sunset. I even joined a game once and met people who were freelancing too.
For some, the small size may feel limiting. But if you like nature, good food and a friendly nomad crowd, this might be your place.
