Koh Tao feels like a tiny island made for slow work days and wild water breaks. I woke up, swam before breakfast, then edited for a few hours in a little cafe with solid Wi Fi and a sea view. Most travellers enjoy the dive culture here. People talk shop and swap dive tips over coffee. The vibe is relaxed, a bit backpacker, and full of friendly faces. It is hot and humid, with sudden rains now and then. For some, this will be amazing. Cost of living is easy on the wallet compared with home, though a bit pricier than mainland Thailand. Internet is good in cafes and a couple of co working spots, but storms can slow things down. Things to do are great. Learn to dive, hike to viewpoints, try beach volleyball at Sairee, eat fresh seafood at night markets. The community is small and social. Argubly not the best if you need big city comforts, but perfect if you want ocean, friends, and flexible work.
