Hoi An feels like walking into a storybook. Lanterns hang over narrow streets. Bikes roll past old wooden houses. The vibe is slow and friendly. Days are hot and humid. Rain comes hard in the wet season. For some, that will be perfect. For others, it might be sticky.
I found the cost of living easy on a budget. Local food is cheap. Tourist spots cost more. Most travellers enjoy eating at street stalls and saving money for coffee and tailors. Internet in cafes and coworking spaces is solid enough for Zoom most days. My guesthouse Wi Fi was hit or miss.
Things to do are simple and good. Morning bike rides through rice fields. An Bang beach has lazy waves and a sunset volleyball game I jumped into once. Try a cooking class or get clothes made in a day. There is a small nomad crowd here. People meet at coffee shops and coworking spaces. Arguably not the best for big city nights. Still, it grows on you.
