Details
ZAWP, which stands for Zorrotzaurre Art Work in Progress, is a cultural movement initiated by the Asociación Haceria Arteak in 2008 to address the urban 'meanwhile' of Ribera de Deusto and Zorrotzaurre in Bilbao, working towards revitalizing and enhancing these neighborhoods. ZAWP focuses on the cultural revitalization and economic regeneration of the industrial area through opportunities in culture, art, technology, and innovation. The project involves diverse artistic disciplines in a unique space in Zorrotzaurre. ZAWP aims to contribute to the regeneration of the area while fostering creativity and preserving its history.
One of the spaces within the ZAWP project is La Terminal FICC, a former factory transformed into a hub for cultural and creative industries. This space hosts various artistic disciplines under one roof and is open to the public on weekends, offering a collaborative environment for artists and creators. ZAWP also features different initiatives and projects from cooperatives, sustainable fashion, holistic art, culinary arts, glass crafting, and more, highlighting a diverse range of creative endeavors within the community.
Furthermore, ZAWP periodically organizes events, exhibitions, and activities to engage with the community and promote cultural exchange. The organization also offers opportunities for residents and artists to showcase their work, participate in workshops, and contribute to the cultural scene in Zorrotzaurre. By creating a dynamic cultural ecosystem, ZAWP plays a significant role in transforming the urban landscape and fostering a vibrant creative community in the region.
