Pine Ridge Housing Co-operative is a member-run residential co‑op established in 1981 with first occupancy in November 1982. Located on a seven‑acre site on Burnaby Mountain, the property comprises four residential buildings (22 townhouse units each) for a total of 88 units, plus a community building. Unit mix includes one‑, two‑, three‑ and four‑bedroom townhouses: specifically 10 one‑bed, 30 two‑bed, 32 three‑bed (12 with one bath, 4 with one and a half baths), and four four‑bed units with a bath and a half. Units have electric baseboard heating and in‑unit washer/dryer hook‑ups; the community building offers coin‑operated laundry. Upper units have two sets of stairs and a balcony; lower units have one or two sets of stairs with patio and yard access. There are no wheelchair‑accessible units. The site features three children’s playgrounds and adjacency to Forest Grove Elementary School; Burnaby Mountain Secondary is approximately 3 km away. Local transit access includes bus service to Production Way–University SkyTrain station (Millennium Line) about 3 km from the co‑op. Nearby neighborhood amenities within walking distance include a corner store, daycare, and food services; local parks, tennis courts, soccer fields, walking trails and bike paths are also close by. Governance follows cooperative principles and a member‑based participatory democracy: each household has one vote, and members collectively own and manage the co‑op. Members elect a volunteer Board of Directors from among themselves to carry out the co‑op’s business; directors are legally obliged to act honestly and in the co‑op’s best interests. The co‑op emphasizes member engagement—attendance at meetings and events, volunteering on committees, standing for the board, and adherence to rules and policies are noted as expectations. Robert’s Rules of Order are used for meetings. Rules and an Occupancy Agreement (Schedule A) were adopted by members on March 29, 2017. A Member Handbook, policies, maintenance handbook, forms, community hall rental information and other resources are maintained for governance and operations. Pine Ridge’s stated mission is to provide safe, sustainable, well‑governed and well‑managed housing for a supportive community of engaged members. The co‑op acknowledges it is located on the unceded traditional territories of the Squamish, Tsleil‑Waututh and Musqueam Nations. Pine Ridge is affiliated with CHF Canada and CHF BC.
