Haus is a non-profit creative community located in downtown Reykjavík, consisting of two locations: Hafnar.haus and Hlemmur.haus. Established with a focus on supporting creatives, Haus offers an inclusive environment where members can work collaboratively across various artistic disciplines. The community currently houses around 500 members, including musicians, writers, designers, developers, filmmakers, artists, and entrepreneurs, all benefiting from approximately 6,000 square meters of creatively designed space.
Members have access to nearly 200 private studios and a shared coworking area at competitive rates. Shared facilities include meeting rooms, a photo studio, and spaces for recording and podcasting, enhancing the collaborative atmosphere conducive to creativity. Additionally, Haus promotes community engagement through daily communal lunches, weekly events, exhibitions, workshops, clubs, and performances, emphasizing the importance of fostering a collaborative culture. Members are encouraged to participate actively in shaping the community, making it a vibrant and dynamic environment.
Haus aims to keep its services affordable, emphasizing its non-profit status. While many private studios are fully booked, those interested can join a waiting list or explore the newer Hlemmur.haus, which opened recently with available studios. The organization prioritizes creating a welcoming community for creatives who value shared experiences. Membership provides access to facilities in both locations, promoting unity across the community.
Overall, Haus represents a unique and supportive initiative for creative individuals in Reykjavík, designed not only to provide workspace but also to cultivate a richer professional and social experience among its members.
