Details
Centraal Wonen Delft is a co-living initiative that seeks to balance the tranquility of private living spaces with the social benefits of community living. The project provides housing for approximately 100 residents divided into thirteen different groups, catering to a diverse range of ages and lifestyles, from young singles to families and retirees. The essence of living in this community revolves around companionship and shared experiences, with a focus on social interaction among residents.
The housing within Centraal Wonen Delft is designed to be flexible, allowing residents to rent one, two, or three rooms, depending on their needs. Currently, the community offers a total of 173 rooms in various combinations, including larger private rooms with kitchenettes (referred to as “woonkamers”), smaller units (known as “vlakjes”), and attic rooms (“dakjes”). Rent varies depending on the type of room, with fees that include both base rent and additional service costs, which cover utilities and maintenance. Notably, these accommodations are eligible for housing subsidies, potentially reducing financial burdens for residents.
The living arrangements are organized into clusters that feature shared amenities, including kitchens, gardens, and common areas for social activities. Although participation in communal meals and events is encouraged, it is not mandatory, creating a balance between social interaction and personal privacy. Each group has a unique character, offering various levels of community engagement, whether through shared cooking nights, recreational activities, or simply enjoying time together.
Centraal Wonen Delft is strategically located in the green neighborhood of Tanthof-Oost, providing residents with easy access to local shops, parks, and public transportation links, including the nearby train station. The development aims to foster an inclusive environment where individuals can live harmoniously while contributing to a supportive community fabric. This model reflects a shift from the original focus on family-oriented living to a contemporary emphasis on individual residents seeking uncomplicated companionship within a co-living framework.
