Maribor feels small and honest. Old stone streets meet the Drava river and a vine that is centuries old. Summers are warm and riverside bars buzz. Winters bring snow on Pohorje and people ski after work. The vibe is relaxed and a bit studenty thanks to the university. Most travellers enjoy the low key culture and the many cafes.
For digital nomads the perks are clear. It is cheaper than big European cities so rent and coffee do not hurt. Internet is usually fast and cafes have good Wi Fi. There are a few small coworking spots and a steady stream of students and creatives. Things to do are great. Hike or bike the hills. Join a wine tasting. Catch a music night at Lent festival. I once read about an impromptu folk gig by the river and that sounds like Maribor to me.
