I have been fortunate to have already seen quite some cities in my life. But no other city has impressed me as much as Valencia.
Of course there are other cities that have strong arguments, the party scene in Barcelona, the nature in Patagonia, the value-for-money in Thailand. All great reasons to go to a certain place and travel. (Honestly go travel, I have learned from nothing more than from my travelling).
But, to me, Valencia has the best day-to-day life. Everybody seems to be doing sport, and it’s so easy being active. I found two run clubs, joined a beach volleyball team, have multiple gyms to choose from, can go swimming and play Padel when I want to. Also, the weather is awesome. Sun all year around and even when some locals start complaining, growing up in Germany showed me what bad weather looks like, and there isn’t any in Valencia. Add the Spanish culture, walkable districts and people being out in the streets and they actually like talking to each other, and you have the perfect mix. At least for my preference.
Before, I thought about Barcelona, but while you can have an amazing time there, I always end up feeling burned out after some time in the buzzing Catalan city. I guess if you want a big city and parties, go to Barcelona. But if you like a smaller version of that and rather do sport Saturday morning than partying Friday night, then Valencia is your place.
If you follow my recommendation, here is a list of Colivings that could be your home in Valencia for a couple of months.
