Antigua feels like stepping into a postcard. Cobblestone streets. Bright walls. A volcano always in the background. The weather is gentle. Days are warm. Nights can be cool. The vibe is slower and artsy. Most travellers enjoy the coffee culture and the tiny markets.
For digital nomads it ticks a lot of boxes. Rent and food are easier on the wallet than big cities. Cafes and co working spots have good Wi Fi most of the time. I once worked from a rooftop while watching smoke curl from a volcano. That felt unreal.
There is a lively Spanish school scene. Language meetups, walking tours, and weekend hikes to Pacaya keep you busy. For some, the crowds during Semana Santa will be amazing. For others, they are too much. There is a friendly expat and local community. Arguably not the best if you need beach life or nonstop nightlife. But if you want charm, coffee, and a steady flow of new friends, Antigua is hard to beat.
