Antigua feels like a cozy postcard. Old brick streets. Volcanoes all around. The sun is soft most days. Nights can be cool. The vibe is slow and friendly. Locals sell tortillas from tiny carts. Cafes play music and people work on laptops.
Most travellers enjoy the cafe culture. There are a few solid coworking spots and cafes with decent wifi. For some this will be amazing. For others the internet can be slow during storms. Cost of living is low compared with the West. You can eat well for cheap. You can also choose pricier spots if you want comfort.
Things to do are easy. Take a morning Spanish class. Climb a volcano at dawn. Wander markets. Day trips to Lake Atitlán are common. I once met a group at a rooftop cafe and ended up hiking Pacaya with them. The nomad community is small but real. People meet for language exchanges and movie nights. Arguably not the best for nightlife, but great for focus and local life.
