I fell for Albania fast. The people are warm. Cities feel real, not shiny. Tirana has loud cafes and rooftop bars. The coast is blue and raw. Summers are hot by the sea. Winters are mild in the south. Up north the mountains are wild and green.
Most travellers enjoy the low prices. You can live well without spending much. Internet works fine in cities. I found fast Wi Fi in cafes and a few quiet coworking spots in Tirana and Saranda. For some, that will be amazing.
There is lots to do. Beach time, mountain hikes, old castles, and messy street markets. I once joined a pickup beach volleyball game in Ksamil. Small moment. Big fun. The nomad crowd is small but social. Meetups pop up and locals love to talk over coffee. Arguably not the best for party seekers used to big scenes. But if you want friendly faces, nice weather, and real life, Albania might surprise you.
