Accra feels alive. Hot sun most days. Humid too. Streets full of music, small shops and loud tricycles. People are friendly. Art shows, live drumming and rooftop jam nights happen without much fuss.
Most travellers enjoy the food. I still dream of grilled fish and spicy kelewele after a beach volleyball game at Labadi. For some, the busy traffic will be rough. I found a calm in little cafes and the coworking spots. Impact Hub and iSpace have steady Wi Fi and a mixed crowd of startuppers and creatives. Mobile internet is good in most areas.
Cost of living can be low if you eat local and live outside the tourist spots. Rent in Osu or East Legon is pricier. There is a small but real nomad scene. Meetups pop up on Facebook and someone always knows a coding hangout or language exchange. Arguably not the best place for quiet snow lovers. But if you want heat, culture and a friendly, gritty vibe, Accra hits different.
