Frequently Asked Questions about Colivings in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Yes — Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a strong digital nomad base. It offers year-round spring-like weather (18–25°C), affordable living costs, reliable fibre internet, a growing coworking scene, and easy access to nature. As the Canary Islands' capital, it has better infrastructure and more local services than smaller island towns, while staying more affordable than mainland Spain.
Coliving in Santa Cruz de Tenerife typically costs between €870 and €1,680 per month, all-inclusive. Entry-level spaces start from around €870/m with WiFi, utilities, and coworking access included. Premium coliving retreats with outdoor spaces and community programming reach €1,400–€1,680/m.
Tenerife is known as the "Island of Eternal Spring." Santa Cruz de Tenerife enjoys average temperatures of 18–25°C year-round, with very little rain. This makes it ideal for remote workers who want a reliable work environment with outdoor lifestyle perks — hiking, beaches, and watersports are all within easy reach throughout the year.
Tenerife is part of Spain (and the EU), so EU/EEA citizens can work remotely there without any visa. Non-EU citizens can stay up to 90 days under the Schengen agreement. For longer stays, Spain's Digital Nomad Visa (launched 2023) allows non-EU remote workers to live and work in Spain, including Tenerife, for up to 1 year, renewable for up to 5 years.
Both are excellent bases but with different vibes. Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) has a beach right in the city, a larger and more established nomad community, and more coworking options — making it the more popular choice. Santa Cruz (Tenerife) is a larger city with more local culture, better shopping, and more varied coliving options, but lacks a central beach. Choose Las Palmas for community; Santa Cruz for authentic city life.

Top benefits of coliving in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

I loved my week in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It feels like a small city on an island. Mountains sit close. The sea is close. The weather stays warm most of the year. Streets have old buildings, lively markets and friendly bars. Carnival is wild if you time it right. Most travellers enjoy the pace here. Cost of living is easier on the wallet than big Spanish cities. For some, this will be amazing. Internet works well in cafes and there are a few honest coworking spots with fast enough Wi Fi for video calls. I read online about people playing beach volleyball at Las Teresitas at sunset. I can picture that. There is hiking up Mount Teide, boat trips to see whales, and tapas nights in the old town. The digital nomad scene is small but real. You will meet other remote workers at cafes and meetups. Arguably not the best place for nonstop nightlife. But for work, sun and a friendly crowd, it hits the sweet spot.
