Summers get warm, winters can be chilly, but spring and autumn are perfect for long walks. The vibe is creative and relaxed, a mix of students, artists and families. For digital nomads it hits a lot. Cost of living is low compared with Western Europe, so you can live well on a modest budget. Internet is fast and reliable in most cafes and coworking spaces. There are several coworking spots and regular meetups, so finding people is easy. Things to do range from cafe work sessions to gallery nights, food markets, and weekend hikes in the nearby Rhodope Mountains. Most travellers enjoy rooftop bars that look over the Old Town. I once worked from a sunny table in Kapana, then joined a group who dragged me to a sunset hike. Arguably not the best spot if you want beach life. For some, this will be amazing.
