Why Mérida is a great city for coliving

Mérida surprised me in the best way. Old colonial streets. Colorful houses. Slow mornings in tiny cafes. It is hot most of the year. For some, that will be amazing. For others, not so much. The city feels safe and friendly. Most travellers enjoy the street food. I ate cochinita pibil from a tiny stall and still dream about it. The cost of living is low compared to big cities. You can rent a decent place without breaking the bank. Internet is solid in cafes and coworking spots. I worked from a courtyard cafe with fast Wi Fi and cold coffee. There is a small but active nomad community. Meetups and Spanish classes help you meet people. Things to do are endless. Day trips to cenotes and Maya ruins. Weekend beach trips to Progreso where people play beach volleyball. Museums, mercados, and live music in the plazas keep you busy. Argueably not the flashiest city. But real, calm, and easy to live in.
