Why Kathmandu is a great city for coliving
Kathmandu hits you in the chest. Ancient temples squeeze between scooter traffic. Prayer flags flutter over dusty streets. The vibe is loud, warm and slightly chaotic. Winters are cool and crisp. Summers bring monsoon rain and thick green hills.
For digital nomads it works. Rent and food feel cheap compared to big cities. You can find quiet guesthouses for a month without breaking the bank. Most cafes and a few coworking spots have solid internet. Power cuts happen sometimes but many places have backup power and Wi Fi. For some, that will be annoying. I read online about a rooftop in Thamel where a few coders started a weekly code night. I joined once. We drank tea, swapped tips and watched the lights of the valley.
Things to do are rich. Morning temple walks. Day hikes to Nagarkot for sunrise. Old markets and spicy street food. The nomad community is small but friendly. People meet in cafes, on Facebook groups, or at yoga mornings. Arguably not the quietest base, but it is full of life.
