Fiji surprised me. Warm air, constant green. Friendly smiles everywhere. Village songs and kava nights feel real. Most travellers enjoy the slow pace here. For some, that will be amazing. For others, it can feel too quiet. Wi Fi is fine in main towns and on bigger islands. I found a tiny café with strong coffee and steady internet where I worked all afternoon. Out on small islands the signal got patchy. Cost of living is lower if you eat local and use buses. Resorts are pricey. Island ferries add up. There is lots to do between work. Snorkel at lunch. Hike waterfalls on weekends. I once joined a sunset beach volleyball game and made new friends in ten minutes. Nomad meet ups and expats pop up in Nadi and Suva. The community is small but warm. If you want nature, slow days, and friendly locals, Fiji could be a sweet spot.
