I fell in love with Croatia fast. The towns have old stone streets and friendly cafes. The vibe is relaxed by day and lively at night. Summers are warm and sunny. Winters are quieter and a bit chilly by the sea.
Most travellers enjoy the mix of sea and city. Zagreb has cozy coworking spots and good coffee. Split and Dubrovnik feel alive with history and sunsets. Islands are for slow days and boat trips. Internet is solid in cities. Out on tiny islands it can be patchy. For some, this will be amazing.
Costs are lower than big Western cities. In peak summer some places get pricey. I once played beach volleyball with nomads at a small beach after a coding sprint. There are meetups and Facebook groups. People trade tips over espresso. Beaches, hiking, sailing, and festivals fill free time. Arguably not the best for nonstop parties. But if you want work, sea, and a friendly community, Croatia often fits.
