Westgate Foundation, located in Ballincollig and surrounding areas, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality services, supports, and opportunities for older individuals in the Mid Cork Area. Their mission focuses on ensuring respect, equality, dignity, rights, and care for all individuals connected with the organization. The foundation offers various services such as Westgate DayCare, Community Catering (Meals on Wheels), Transport, Sheltered Housing, Social Activities, and the Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS) to support older people in the community. The Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS) provided by Westgate Foundation offers funding for a free personal monitored alarm for individuals aged 65 and older with limited means. This initiative aims to assist older people in living securely and independently in their homes. Additionally, the foundation has launched the 'Staying Connected' project, which involves delivering live-streamed and recorded programs to connect with clients, residents, and service users, enabling access from home. Furthermore, Westgate Foundation's Community Catering Department ensures the provision of nutritious and varied meals to older community members, with an average of 900 meals served monthly. Meals are freshly prepared each day, catering to dietary requirements and preferences, and weekend dinners are also offered. The department pays close attention to maintaining nutritional value and taste in the meals provided, showcasing a commitment to quality and well-being. In addition to meals, the catering department caters to social activities with a range of menu options for events hosting over 70 people.
