ICHC collaborates with North Camden Housing Co-op (NCHC) since 2001, sharing similar objectives and profiles, employing staff and consultants to deliver services. ICHC owns 29 properties in the North Islington area, mostly Victorian houses converted into flats between 1982 and 1996, with a mix of unit types ranging from bedsits to 5+ bed units. The cooperative continues to upgrade its properties to meet Decent Homes Standards and tenants' expectations. Regarding membership, ICHC does not operate a waiting list. Vacancies are filled by nominations from Islington Council or referrals from Westminster Housing Co-op using Choice Based Letting. Those outside Islington are advised to contact their Local Authority Housing Department for assistance. Overall, Islington Community Housing Co-op focuses on providing affordable housing to its members, ensuring the properties are well-maintained, and promoting a cooperative living environment free from discrimination. Through its membership structure and collaboration with NCHC, the cooperative strives to meet the housing needs of its community while actively involving members in its management and decision-making processes.
