Details

FOQUS – Fondazione Quartieri Spagnoli is a project of urban regeneration located in the Quartieri Spagnoli of Naples. The initiative began in 2014 with the restoration of the Montecalvario Institute, providing space for public and private institutions to run various programs. FOQUS has contributed to creating new employment opportunities, particularly focusing on youth and women. It has established a community of cultural and creative industries, offering training, education, child care programs, and urban services to promote development and social mobility. The FOQUS project has transformed an abandoned building into a productive and creative community that fosters education, training, and guidance for children and youth. Since its founding in 2013, FOQUS accommodates various entities such as music therapy institutes, schools, daycare centers, online newspapers, dance schools, rehabilitation centers, and more. The project aims to bring positive change to the Spanish Quarter by offering a wide range of services and educational opportunities for individuals of all ages. FOQUS can be likened to other European urban regeneration projects like those in Amsterdam, Vienna, and Paris, albeit with its unique features. Standing out as a private initiative funded solely by private resources, FOQUS provides a diverse array of services catering to individuals from early childhood to adulthood. The project serves as a model of cooperation between public and private entities, promoting principles of sustainability, civic entrepreneurship, and shared social responsibility. By emphasizing consciousness, knowledge, and training, FOQUS aims to prevent social exclusion and facilitate development, independence, and social mobility within the community.
