Details

The Corvidae Co-op is an innovative cooperative housing community situated in Seattle's Columbia City / Beacon Hill neighborhood, designed by Allied8 Architects. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2024, this project promotes affordable housing options with private unit prices ranging from $220,000 to $450,000, and downpayment requirements between $9,000 and $25,000. The location is notably convenient, as it is within walking distance from the Mount Baker light rail station and the nearby Cheasty Greenbelt, which offers extensive hiking trails and green spaces. Residents of the Corvidae Co-op will benefit from shared communal spaces amounting to 1,500 square feet, which include a large common kitchen and dining area that serves as the heart of community interaction. This setup encourages collaboration through communal meals, while the design features large windows that facilitate a seamless transition to the outdoor garden patio—ideal for both entertaining and social engagement. Additional amenities include a shared guest suite for hosting visitors, outdoor dining areas, and dedicated coworking spaces that cater to residents' needs for both community and exclusivity. In total, the Corvidae Co-op offers a variety of living arrangements with 3 two-bedroom homes, 5 one-bedroom homes, and 2 studio units, fostering a diverse community. The layout also features a central courtyard complete with garden beds and two outdoor balconies that provide picturesque views of Mount Rainier, enhancing the living experience with natural beauty. In essence, the Corvidae Co-op represents a forward-thinking approach to urban living, focusing on affordability, sustainability, and community connection. With a commitment to building homes in neighborhoods that combine practical living with a vibrant community spirit, the project aims to foster an environment where residents can thrive both individually and collectively.
