Details
Comala is a multipurpose community space located in a historic building, formerly the La Marmora barracks in Turin, which dates back to the mid-1800s. Over the years, the facility has served various functions, from livestock markets to municipal offices and even a bunker during significant trials. Today, Comala is designed as a public venue that fosters creativity, collaboration, and engagement among its users, offering areas for studying, musical practice, and various artistic endeavors.
The space features several amenities, including music rehearsal rooms, recording studios, and areas for concerts. Users can participate in workshops covering theater, dance, multimedia production, and other forms of artistic expression. The flexible environment allows the main hall to function as a study area during the day and transform into a venue for dance classes and other events in the evening. Outdoor spaces are also available for studying and recreational activities, such as chess, football, and ping pong, equipped with essential facilities like power outlets and free Wi-Fi.
Comala is open to all and aims to cultivate a vibrant community atmosphere, where music and art are at the forefront. Regular events, including concerts and movie screenings, contribute to an active cultural schedule that encourages community participation. The facility also houses a bar, enhancing the social experience with complimentary water available for all guests. Named after a town in Mexican literature, Comala reflects a commitment to creating a welcoming space for social interaction and creative exploration in Turin.
