Each family has their own home and garden, alongside a common garden and community house. An essential aspect of their living arrangement is their commitment to decision-making by consensus. Regular meetings, typically held once a month, facilitate communication and allow residents to collaborate on community issues. The community embraces diversity, comprising couples, singles, retirees, and professionals from various fields such as IT, social work, and accounting, among others. The presence of around 33 children adds to the dynamic atmosphere, making it an appealing place for families. Social interaction is encouraged through various activities, including an annual carnival and communal meals. The residents aim to cook together one to two times a week, enhancing camaraderie while also providing opportunities for individuals to contribute by cooking or washing dishes. Additionally, the community is actively engaged in maintaining shared spaces, with organized workdays typically taking place on the third Saturday of each month. While visits to Cohousing Vinderhoute are welcome, they are organized by appointment to respect the privacy of residents.
