Details
Cohabitat Lambrate is a housing project located in the Lambrate neighborhood of Milan. The project was developed by Coop. Dorica in collaboration with Delta Ecopolis, aiming to promote a sense of community through the Common Housing® approach. This approach offers a mix of housing options, including property ownership, rental units, and cohabitation arrangements, all designed with shared spaces to encourage social interactions and a sense of neighborhood.
The Cohabitat Lambrate project consists of 104 property-owned units, 46 rental units, and 2 co-living spaces. The housing complex also features commercial spaces such as a pharmacy, medical studio, hair salon, and a private nursery. Additionally, there are communal spaces like a multifunctional meeting area for events and coworking, an equipped workshop for DIY projects, and a communal laundry facility. The cost of the units ranges from an average of 2,150 €/sqm for property ownership to 75 €/sqm+VAT annually for rentals and 200 € per month per bed plus expenses for cohabitation.
The project began in 2014 with 104 members and concluded in 2019 with the allocation of units after 20 engaging assembly meetings. Cohabitat Lambrate has fostered a vibrant community life, with various cultural and recreational activities organized by the Acli circle of via Conte Rosso, offering everything from elderly gymnastics to language classes and art workshops. The neighborhood has embraced the new buildings through street art murals that depict the area's industrial history, further integrating the project into the fabric of Lambrate.
Cohabitat Lambrate not only provides housing but also promotes collaborative living and active community engagement within a historic and energetic neighborhood. By offering diverse housing options and shared spaces, the project embodies a modern approach to building sustainable and connected communities in urban settings.
