Cost of living is friendly. Not cheap like a village but cheaper than big Western cities. Food and beer are easy on the wallet. Internet is fast in most cafes and in the coworking spaces I found. I once set up my laptop in a sunny square and a local student pointed me to a tiny cafe with the best Wi-Fi.
There is a real digital nomad crowd. Meetups pop up. Day trips to the Apuseni hills are quick and worth it. Arguably not the best place for beaches. But if you want a smart, social base with good tech and easy life, Cluj makes sense.
