Cambodia feels easy and alive. Hot and humid most of the year, with a heavy rainy season that can clear the air fast. Streets buzz with motorbikes. Temples and monks sit next to noisy markets. It is a friendly, low-key place to live.
Most travellers enjoy the cheap cost. Food and moto taxis cost very little. For some, AC and nicer apartments push the price up, but you can still live well on a modest budget. Internet is decent in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Cafes and a few coworking spaces have solid wifi. Occasional outages happen.
Things to do are endless. Morning at Angkor, afternoon at a riverside cafe, evening at a rooftop bar. I read about beach volleyball at Otres Beach at sunset and it seems to draw nomads. There is a small but growing nomad community. People meet on Facebook groups and in coworking spaces. Arguably not the best for long-term luxury. But if you want warmth, adventure, and low cost, it might be perfect.
