Bremen surprised me. It feels small but full of life. Old brick houses, the Schnoor lanes, and a riverfront where people sit with coffee. The vibe is relaxed and a bit maritime. Summers can be nice and cool. Winters are grey and wet. Pack a warm jacket.
Most travellers enjoy the coffee shop scene. I found plenty of spots with plugs and steady Wi Fi. Coworking spaces exist and locals are used to remote work. For some, this will be just right. For others who want sunny beaches every day it might be slow.
Cost of living is easier on the wallet than Munich or Hamburg. Not cheap but affordable if you stay outside the center. Things to do are real. Museums, farmers markets, bike rides along the Weser and quick trips to the North Sea. I once watched a low key open mic on the Schlachte riverbank and met a coder from Spain.
